Welcome to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
The Award consists of four sections: Volunteering, Skill, Physical and the Expedition. The Bronze Award takes place in Year 9, with Silver taking place during Year 10 and the Autumn of Year 11.
For Bronze, the Volunteering, Skill and Physical sections must each be undertaken for a minimum of three months, with one being undertaken for six months. The fourth section, the Expedition, is done locally in the Cotswolds and involves two days of walking, being completely self-sufficient, with a night of camping in-between.
For Silver, the Volunteering section must be undertaken for six months, with Skill and Physical being done for three and six months. The 3-day walking Silver Expedition takes place in the Black Mountains. A Paddling Expedition on the Wye and Severn Rivers is also available, run by an outside organisation.
