Additional Science KS4

This course uses the fundamentals of science learnt in the Core Science GCSE and expands upon them to provide an increased depth of knowledge and understanding about the importance of science in modern society.

The units studied are as follows:

  • AO1 Knowledge and understanding of science and how science works.
  • AO2 Application of skills, knowledge and understanding.
  • AO3 Practical enquiry and data handling skills.

Assessment:

Assessment for Additional Science takes the form of 3 exams (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) taken at the end of Year 11, and one controlled assessment completed during the year. Each component is worth ΒΌ of the overall GCSE

Resources:

The course is supported by a range of resources including revision guides, workbooks and practice papers which can be purchased at cost through the school. Pupils are also encouraged to purchase revision guides to aid in their learning. These can be provided by the science team.
