Year 11 for assessment in June 2016

For sets 1-5, this is a joint course which results in two separate English GCSE grades. We use the WJEC exam board.

The units studied are as follows:

  • English – 2 exams are each worth 30% of the final grade and 40% of your final grade will be from controlled assessments.
  • English Literature – 2 exams are worth 75% of the final grade and 25% of your final grade will be from controlled assessments

 The English only course is a single GCSE course.

Year 10 assessment in June 2017

This is a two-year course and it is assessed by 100% exam at the end of the course. We will be using the AQA specification.

There will be two exams, each worth 50% of the final mark, which will assess both reading and writing skills.

For Literature, there will be two exams, which will be closed book. These will assess students’ responses to ‘Macbeth’, ‘Lord of the Flies’, ‘A Christmas Carol’, a selection of poetry and unseen poetry.
