Catering is a fantastic subject to take if you are interested in learning new cooking skills, learning more about the catering industry and enjoy hands on practical work. You will learn about health, safety and hygiene, food preparation, cooking and presentation. Topics are also based on nutrition and menu planning.
The Catering GCSE consists of two practical based assessments which count for 60% of your final grade. These give you a great chance to gain valuable marks and knowledge before the final exam.

The units studied are as follows:
TWO practical tasks selected from six that are set by the WJEC.
- The first assessment will take place in year 10 and is worth 20%.
- The second in year 11 and is worth 40%.
ONE written paper of 1¼ hours.
